Position Details

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks a Director of Hospital & Clinic Security.

This position will directly manage and oversee the security functions at the University of Illinois Hospital (UIH) and Clinics. It will direct the daily activities and operations of the security staff/personnel in safeguarding the UIH properties, personnel, and visitors/guests, ensuring that all components of the security operations are properly trained, responsive and supportive of the needs and requirements of the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinical security operation.

This position will be responsible for compliance with security requirements established by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Joint Commission and Hospital Administration.

The Director will be responsible for recommendations for implementation of security, loss-prevention, crime prevention, drug diversion and related policies.

This position will be responsible for ongoing assessment, guidance and strategies related to workplace violence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a bachelor's degree in criminology, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of proven and progressive administration experience in the security field, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting. Prior experience should include working in both union and non-union environments.
• Requires a PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) as defined in the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor and Locksmith Act, issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
• Requires knowledge and prior working experience with disciplinary and grievance procedures preferably in a union setting.
• Requires good communication, presentation, organization, analytical and computer/pc skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and proficiency security related software.
• Requires a good driving record and proof of insurance.
