Position Details

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Illinois State driver's license
• Valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card issued by the State of Illinois
• Must maintain the ability to handle and use a department-approved firearm safely
• Must meet requirements set forth by Illinois State and the City for law enforcement officers
• Must be able to qualify for the Access Certification
• Must speak English, spelling, and grammar
• Knowledge of community-based policing practices
• Police departments' organization, policies, practices, procedures, goals, objectives, rules, regulations, and equipment
• Knowledge of State, federal, and local laws related to the City of Harvey
• Knowledge of report and ticket writing
• Knowledge of computer application, basic technology
• Associate or Bachelor's Degree with significant course work in criminal justice, homeland security, or public administration is preferred
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in law enforcement with two years of supervisory experience
