Position Details

The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Fire Chief.

This is a career position that acts under the guidance of the Fire Chief, and should be innovative, progressive, and creative with a collaborative management style and the keen ability to communicate, listen, engage, and respond appropriately to the needs and input of others. This position has primary oversight of Training and the Fire Prevention Divisions. This is an essential position of the City of Tomball and, should circumstances warrant, is subject to recall by the City for emergency assignments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree in Fire Science, Public administration or related field is required.
• Twelve (12) years of increasingly responsible experience, including three or more years at a Battalion Chief level or higher in a career fire department
• Master Firefighter Certification by Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) required.
• DSHS EMT-B required, paramedic preferred.
• TCFP Officer III, with Inspector required within 18 months of the date of hire.
• Must possess or acquire within the first 30 days of employment, NIMS Certificates for current versions of 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800(b) classes
• Knowledge of Fire Prevention and Emergency Management Operations.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license.
• Must be able to successfully pass physical exam, pre-employment and random drug screening.
• Must be TCIC/NCIC Operator background check.
