Position Details

The Island Lake Police Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Records Supervisor.

The records supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the records division, ensuring compliance with department policies, state and federal laws, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the record division
  • Greet and provide customer service to the public
  • Process traffic citations, police and accident reports
  • Perform data entry into the Records Management System (RMS)
  • Manage LEADS responsibilities
  • Prepare transmittals to the proper Circuit Clerk's office for all arrests and citations
  • Work closely with department personnel to process requests for records, expungements and reports from both the public and private entities including copying and forwarding arrest reports to the proper States Attorney's office and Village Prosecutor
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity and security of department records
  • Provide regular reports to department leadership regarding the status of records management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in records management, preferably in a law enforcement agency
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws related to records management to include laws relating to Freedom of Information Requests (FOIA)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Applicants must become a State Certified Leads Operator
