Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Strategic Intelligence Manager plays a critical role in enhancing the Police Department's ability to proactively identify and address crime trends and public safety concerns.
  • This position is responsible for managing the department's strategic intelligence operations.
  • The Strategic Intelligence Manager leverages data analysis and intelligence tools to identify emerging crime trends, forecast future criminal activity, and assess potential threats to the community.
  • Additionally, the Strategic Intelligence Manager serves as the department's RMS (Records Management System) and CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) software administrator, ensuring optimal functionality and data accuracy across these critical systems.
  • This position serves as a key advisor to law enforcement leadership, providing evidence-based recommendations to inform policies, allocate resources, and develop long-term strategies for crime prevention.
  • Additionally, the role requires fostering collaboration with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure coordinated efforts in addressing complex public safety challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Advanced principles of crime analysis, data interpretation, and strategic intelligence.
  • RMS and CAD systems, including administration, troubleshooting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Records management systems and standards for data accuracy and retention.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS), intelligence software, and data visualization tools.
  • Methods for evaluating criminal behavior and forecasting crime trends.
  • Principles of management, supervision, and employee development.
  • Collaborative practices for inter-agency intelligence sharing.

Ability to:

  • Serve as a technical expert and administrator for RMS/CAD systems.
  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives that align with department objectives.
  • Supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Analyze complex data sets and extract actionable intelligence.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
  • Utilize advanced intelligence tools to create visual representations of data and trends.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in managing sensitive information.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in intelligence analysis, crime analysis, or RMS/CAD administration, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role. 

AND

  • Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, Data Analytics, or a related field.
