Position Details

TITLE: BUILDING SECURITY SUPERVISOR – MORTON WEST QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Good physical health
  3. Demonstrates interest and/or experience working with high school students
  4. Prefer training and/or experience in:
    • Law Enforcement
    • Building Security Operations
    • Employee Supervision and Organization
    • Student Control
  5. Ability to work harmoniously with staff, students and parents
  6. A high degree of maturity
  7. Ability to work without direct supervision
  8. Exemplary work record
  9. Such other alternatives that may be acceptable to the Board of Education

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Assistant Principal

EVALUATED BY: Principal and/or Assistant Principal

JOB GOALS: To be a leader in maintaining adequate building security in order to allow for smooth operation of the educational program in conjunction with established procedures in coordination with District initiatives.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Under the direction of the Principal and Assistant Principal, serves as the head security officer for the building.
  2. Assists in recruiting, training and organizing security staff.
  3. Assigns security staff as needed to assure adequate building security.
  4. Assigns and supervises police officer(s) to parking areas and areas adjacent to the school building.
  5. Keeps the Assistant Principal’s office informed of all duties that require absence from the building during school hours.
  6. Represents the school as required to process trespassers, etc., in accordance with school policy to assure that proper legal action will be forthcoming.
  7. Develops and maintains a list of responsibilities and duties for all security staff.
  8. Periodically evaluates all security procedures and recommends needed changes.
  9. Insures that security equipment (radios, emergency telephones, etc.) are in proper working order.
  10. With the Assistant Principal, evaluates security staff.
  11. During the summer weeks and when necessary during the school year, assists the truant officer verifying student addresses.
  12. Supervises the cafeteria during lunch hours.
  13. Assists the security staff as needed during the school day.
  14. Performs such other duties as deemed necessary by the Administration

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12- month, non-bargaining position

SALARY: Commensurate with background and experience
