Position Details

The Enfield Police Department is seeking a qualified and motivated Police Sergeant to serve as a first-line supervisor responsible for overseeing patrol operations, supervising sworn personnel, and delivering high-quality law enforcement services to the community. This position combines active law enforcement responsibilities with leadership, mentoring, and training of assigned officers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct patrol officers during assigned shifts.
• Respond to emergency calls and critical incidents.
• Conduct and oversee criminal investigations.
• Prepare, review, and approve reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for assigned personnel.
• Enforce state laws and local ordinances.
• Foster positive relationships with community members through community-oriented policing.
• Ensure compliance with department policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
• Promote professionalism, accountability, and ethical policing practices.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a certified police officer.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• U.S. citizenship.

• College education.
• Military service.
• Leadership or supervisory training.
